Santa Suerte is an amazing tattoo studio located in Mexico City’s World Trade Center that started operations six months ago in early 2014. We love the spot’s style and all the crew members. A few days ago we went for a visit and we had the chance to ask Moisés Jimenez, the fownder and owner of Santa Suerte some questions.

R†P: Who are the members of the Santa Suerte crew?
SS: Moises Jimenez, Fridah, Mala Leche, Pablo Rojas (Ignis), Rubi Nandayapa and Atena Bazofia.

R†P: How did you come up with the name and the idea behind Santa Suerte?
SS: I chose the name Santa Suerte because I’ve always considered myself a lucky person. I think luck is what has brought us all here together as a crew.

R†P: What can you tell us about the tattoo style of the Santa Suerte artists?
SS: As a crew we’re interested in traditional tattoo style and all of its variations. We do American, European, and Russian designs, both cartoon and illustration styles.

R†P: Which are the predominant colors in Santa Suerte’s tattoo artists’ wardrobe?
SS: We’re all “darks” — we’re always in black. Except Pablo and Rubi, they wear colors.

R†P: Why do you think people get tattoos? What do they mean to you?
SS: I think people have many reasons. Usually a person is getting a tattoo in search of individuality, identity and membership. But for me personally, they’re just body decoration.

R†P: How long have you been a tattoo artist?
SS: I have four years of experience as a professional tattoo artist.

R†P: What are the most popular songs in the studio right now?
SS: “Have You Ever Seen The Rain?” by Creedence Clearwater. “Count Your Bruises” by The Flatliners. “Straight From The Jacket” by Alkaline Trio (cover).

Santa Suerte es un estudio de tatuajes increíble localizado en el WTC de la Ciudad de México, lleva operando desde principios del 2014. Nos encanta el lugar, el estilo, pero sobretodo el crew de tatuados que lo integran. Hace unos días los fuimos a visitar y platicamos con Moisés Jimenez, fundador y dueño de Santa Suerte, le hicimos estas preguntas.

R†P: ¿Quienes forman el crew/studio de Santa Suerte?
SS: Moisés Jiménez, Fridah, Mala Leche, Pablo Rojas (Ignis), Rubí Nandayapa y Atena Bazofia.

R†P: ¿Como nace la idea y porqué se llama Santa Suerte? ¿Cuánto tiempo llevas con este proyecto?
SS: El nombre de Santa Suerte se me ocurrió por que siempre me he considerado una persona afortunada y considero que la suerte es la que nos ha unido y nos ha puesto en donde estamos. Llevamos aproximadamente 6 meses trabajando como SantaSuerte.

R†P: ¿Cómo es el estilo de los tatuadores de Santa Suerte?
SS: Como estudio y crew estamos interesados en el tatuaje tradicional, con variaciones dentro del mismo estilo, intentamos cubrir todas sus vertientes: americano, europeo, ruso, caricatura e ilustración.

R†P: ¿Que colores predominan en el closet de los tatuadores?
SS: todos somos “darks” y siempre usamos negro, excepto Pablo y Rubí que si usan colores.

R†P: ¿Por que crees que la gente se tatua? que representa para ti?
SS: Yo creo que la gente se tatúa por varias razones, pero principalmente lo hacen en busca de individualidad, identidad y pertenencia. Para mi el tatuaje es únicamente decoración para el cuerpo.
