Obviamente en Rosa Pistola teníamos que entrevistar a “La Nena Fina” de Medellín para nuestra serie sobre la reggaetoneras más chidas del mundo. Según Farina, en Colombia el perreo es solo una palabra para pasarte bien. Si! There are no reggaeton clubs that don’t play “Pum Pum” by Farina. Obviously, Rosa Pistola had to interview “La Nena Fina” from Medellín for our series about the coolest female reggaeton artists in the world. According to Farina, in Colombia perreo just means have a good time. Yes. 

¿Como empezaste a hacer reggaeton? ¿A que edad? How did you start making reggaeton? How old were you?

Saludos nena, gracias por las preguntas. Para comenzar, quiero contarte que no solo hago reggaeton. Considero que mi música es una mezcla entre música urbana y caribeña. Los ritmos en los que mas me destaco son el dancehall, reggae y R&B. Descubrí mi pasión por todos estos ritmos a los 13 años y a los 14 ya hacía parte de un grupo musical de amigos a los que también les gustaba la música afroamericana y jamaiquina. Greetings baby, thank you for the questions. To begin, I want to tell you that I don’t just make reggaeton. I consider my music a mix between urban and Caribbean. The rhythms that I get into the most are dancehall, reggae and R&B. I discovered my passion for all these rhythms at age 13 and at 14 when I became part of a music group of friends who also liked Afro American and Jamaican music. 

 

¿Que te inspira? What inspires you?

Son demasiadas cosas las que me inspiran, por ejemplo un buen BEAT o RIDDIM y que exprese lo que esta pasando en ese momento. Todo depende de mi vida diaria y de mi estado de animo, tambien me pasa que de la nada comienzan a salirme letras con melodia sobre cosas que ni siquiera he vivido. Pienso que la inspiración se asoma sin avisar pero para que llegue hay que VIVIR, es decir pasar por buenos y malos momentos. There are too many things that inspire me, for example a good BEAT or RIDDIM that expresses what’s happening in a moment. Everything depends on my daily life and my state of mind. What also happens is that out of nowhere lyrics and rhythms begin to come out of me about things I’ve never even lived. I think that inspiration appears without warning, but so that it keeps coming you have to LIVE, which is to say go through good and bad times. 

 

¿De que se tratan tus letras? What are your lyrics about?

No me concentro en temas ni publicos, solo dejo que fluya. Trato de hacer musica que todos puedan entender y/o disfrutar. Ademas de escribir sobre el party, el amor y el desamor, le agrego a mis letras o composiciones la parte jocosa, sexual y materialista de las que muchos artistas temen hablar o tocar. I don’t focus on themes or the public, I just let it flow. I try to make music that everyone can understand and/or engage with. In addition to writing to the party, to love and falling out of love, I infuse my lyrics or compositions with that playful, sexual and marterialist side that many artists are afraid to speak to or touch. 

 

 

¿Que le dices a la gente que cree que el reggaeton es ofensivo hacia las mujeres? What do you say to people that think that reggaeton is offensive to women?

Que por letras de algunos artistas no pueden llegar a una conclusion y generalizar. El reggaeton es un ritmo increible que al igual que los demas generos tiene los mas talentosos compositores, cantantes y raperos que por letras reales, romanticas, positivas han logrado que este genero siga posicionandose cada vez mas fuerte a nivel mundial. That you can’t arrive at conclusions and generalize about the lyrics of some artists. Reggaeton is an incredible rhythm that, just like other genres has the most talented composers, singers and rappers that through lyrics that are real, romantic, positive have made it so that this genre keeps positioning itself more strongly on a worldwide level. 

 

¿Que es lo mejor de ser mujer en el reggaeton? What’s the best part about being a woman in reggaeton?

La mejor cosa de ser la primera mujer colombiana dentro del género urbano a nivel mundial es saber que tu nombre ademas de sonar cada vez mas fuerte quedara plasmado para siempre en esa lista de mujeres que nos atrevimos a demostrar que este género no tiene ni sexo ni raza ni color. Lo que vienen son más mujeres a seguir contando nuestra manera de ver la vida. The best thing about being a Colombian woman within the urban genre on a worldwide level is knowing that your name gets louder and that you’ll always remain on that list of women who dared to demonstrate that this genre doesn’t have sex or race or color. Those of us who are coming up are women who keep telling about our ways of seeing life. 

 

¿Te gusta perrear? ¿Perreas con personas que no son tu pareja? Do you like to perrear? Do you perrear with people who aren’t your partner?

Como soy colombiana y es un termino boricua, es una palabra que NO uso. Hasta donde sé; la palabra “perreo” traducido a mi lengua colombiana significa “pasarla bien.” Y a mi me encanta pasarla bien. As I’m Colombian and that’s a Puerto Rican term, it’s a word that I DON’T use. As far as I know the word “perreo” translated to my Colombian language means “have a good time.” And I love having a good time. 

 

 

¿Qué opinas sobre la prohibición del reggaeton en algunos paises? Es impresionante que ocurrió en Cuba, y han habido momentos en que ciertos grupos han logrado prohibirlo en Colombia, Guatemala, y más lugares. What do you think about the reggaeton prohibition in some countries? It’s crazy what happened in Cuba, and there have been moments in which certain groups have fought to prohibit it in Colombia,Guatemala, and other places. 

No suelo hablar sobre decisisones politicas y culturales pero vuelvo a lo mismo. No podemos generalizar o señalar por algunas canciones y algunos artistas. I don’t usually speak about political and cultural decisions, but it comes down to the same thing. We can’t generalize or judge some songs and artists. 

 

¿Cual es el futuro del reggaeton? What is the future of reggaeton?

Un interminable y positivo futuro. Seguira creciendo y evolucionando. An interminable and positive future. It will keep growing and evolving.
