Como nos encanta esta mujer iquiqueña ying yang y emprendedora del reggaeton futurista. Tomasa del Real esta presente en  nuestra serie de entrevistas Reino Reggaetonera desde Iquique, Chile, donde también tiene carerra como artista del tatuaje. Ella da una nueva cara estética al mundo de reggaeton, y como dice en nuestra entrevista, le encanta dar algo kinky a las chicas para cantar a los chicos en el club. We love a Iquiqueña ying yang reggaeton futuristic woman. Tomasa del Real comes to our interview series with female reggaeton artistas from Iquique, Chile, where she also has a career as a tattoo artist. She brings a new aesthetic to reggaeton, and as she says in our interview, loves to give the girls something kinky to sing to boys in the club. 

¿Como empezaste a hacer reggaeton? ¿A qué edad? How did you start making reggaeton music? How old were you?

Empecé a cantar rap hace muchos años solo por diversíon, pero siempre escuché reggaeton y hace un año mas o menos (a los 27) grabe un reggaeton que se llama “Préndelo” con un amigo (Ceaese) y no paré nunca mas. Me encantó y creo que a la gente le gustó también. I started rapping many years ago just for fun, but I always listened to reggaeton and a year ago more or less (when I was 27), I recorded a reggaeton song called “Préndelo” with an amigo que se llama Ceaese and I never stopped again. I really liked it, and I think people liked it too. 

 

¿Qué te inspira? What inspires you?

Me inspira el tiempo libre jajaja, la verdad es que cuando encuentro un momento en q nadie me moleste me siento inspirada, yo y mi Mac. La vista a la playa, el amor, estar vivo, la amistad, el Internet, los chicos, todo! Free time inspires me hahaha the truth is that when I find a moment in which nobody’s bothering me and I feel inspired, it’s me and my Mac. The view of the beach, love, being alive, friendship, the Internet, boys, everything! 

 

¿De qué se tratan tus letras? What are your lyrics about?

Mis letras son cosas que me pasan, que me pasaron o que me gustaría que me pasaran. Hablo un poco de lo que esta pasando hoy, la actualidad y el perreo en este caso visto desde la cabeza de una mujer. Quizas darle un poco de voz a las chicas que quieren perrear y cantarle algo bien kinky a sus chicos en las fiestas. My lyrics are things that happen to me, have happened to me, or that I would like to have happen to me. I talk a little bit about what is happening nowadays, today and the perreo in this case seen from the point of view of a woman. Maybe I’m giving a voice to the girls who want to perrear and sing something really kinky to the boys that are at the parties. 

 

 

¿Qué le dices a la gente que cree que el reggaeton es ofensivo hacia las mujeres? What do you say to people who think reggaeton is offensive to women?

Creo que no se lo tienen que tomar tan en serio. El reggaeton esta hecho para bailarlo, para ayudarte a acercarte a alguien y cantarle, decirle todas las cosas q uno nunca diría, pero bailando, porque no? No me ofende que me digan que estoy linda o que me quieren besar, porque me voy a ofender? Si quieren escuchar contenido mejor que escuchen otra cosa, opera o algo asi. I think that they don’t have to take it so seriously. Reggaeton is made to be danced to, to help you approach someone and sing to them, tell them all the things you’d never say, but since you’re dancing, why not? It doesn’t offend me when people say I’m pretty or that they want to kiss me, why would I get offended? If [the haters] want to listen to better content, they should listen to something else, opera or something like that. 

 

¿Qué es lo mejor de ser mujer en el reggaeton? What’s the best part about being a woman in reggaeton?

Me gusta saber que soy una de las primeras mujeres en Chile que se atrevio a hacer reggaeton sin miedo. Quizas por aca todos quieren ser bien cool y sabios y el reggaeton esta mal visto y discriminado. Yo me siento orgullosa de ser una mujer reggaetonera y no me importa nada porque me encanta y hacer lo que me gusta me pone muy feliz. I like knowing that I’m one of the first women in Chile that has dared to make reggaeton with no fear. Maybe around here everyone just wants to be really cool and wise and reggaeton is looking down upon and discriminated against. I feel proud of the fact that I’m a female reggaetonera and I don’t care about anything else because I love doing what makes me happy.

 

¿Le gusta perrear? ¿Perrea con personas que no sean su pareja? Do you like to perrear? Do you perrear with people who aren’t your partner?

Me encanta perrear, hasta el piso y todo eso! Salgo harto con amigos a bailar y no tengo pareja pero yo no tendría problema en bailar con otros. Si tuviera pareja y a el le molestara que lo hiciera, pues se tendría que ir a otro lado xD jajaja.  I love to perrear, to the floor, all of that! I go out with friends to dance without a partner but I have no problems dancing with others. If I did have a partner and it bothered them that I did that they could get lost xD hahaha.

 

¿Qué opinas sobre la prohibición de reggaeton en algunos paises? Es impresionante que ocurrió en Cuba, y han habido momentos en que ciertos grupos han logrado prohibirlo en Colombia, Guatemala, y más lugares. What do you think about the reggaeton prohibition in some countries? It’s crazy what happened in Cuba, and there have been moments in which certain groups have fought to prohibit it inColombia, Guatemala, and other places. 

Creo que es una exageración, que es una censura innecesaria, que la musica no te hace ni buena ni mala persona y aunque traten de callarnos esto nunca va a parar. I think it’s an exaggeration, that it’s an unnecessary censorship, that music doesn’t make anyone a good or bad person and that even though they try to shut us up it’s never going to stop.
